Going Back

You can’t go back to how it was.
From some points in lyf, you long for the past, but you can’t go there.

Maybe the past isn’t how you saw it anyways.
Maybe you were too blinded by the fake outer shine and glitter to see through the veil, the act, the mask that people put up.

But now that the mist of ignorance is lifted and the reality stares at you in the face, you can’t simply go back to ignoring it.
You can’t let such people stay in your life and continue to poison it, just because they have been there for a long time, doesn’t mean they deserve to be there anymore.

Or maybe you did not want to see things as they were. For at times ignorance really is bliss. At times closing your eyes to the reality of people felt good. Because it was familiar.
But the known isn’t always beautiful and true, and the unknown isn’t always that scary.

Going Back

Maybe knowing the truth now, you can finally find peace. Find someone with whom you don’t have to pretend to be happy. Find someone whom you want to stay in your life because they make you happy not because they are familiar.

Sometimes not being able to go back to how things were is a good thing.

Ignorance is in fact bliss. I spent two years in a poisonous relationship because I had a really strong pair of rose-tinted glasses on. But I was used to this situation and it took me a while to get out of it. I enjoyed reading your post. It’s hard to stay out of the past.
